Dr. Melissa Nicholas, PMHNP
Dr. Melissa Nicholas is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who specializes in treating adults for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders, along with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. Melissa has worked in various behavioral health settings and has a lot of experience engaging with clients with various mental health disorders. She also has experience working with veterans who have served our great nation.
Melissa completed her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees at Galen College of Nursing. She went on to complete her Master in Nursing (MSN) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degrees at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Melissa attended Frontier Nursing University to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and to remain in the forefront to combat the stigma of mental health.
Melissa is a caring and empathetic provider who believes in a holistic, patient-centered, and collaborative approach when providing psychiatric and mental health treatment. She takes the time to get to know her clients in order to build a good rapport and a good therapeutic relationship. Melissa encourages her clients to partake in decision-making pertaining to their treatment goals. She incorporates evidence-based practice and medication management to provide the best quality of care for her clients.
